Reflections With Harvey Keitel | Directing
On Directors
I'm aware of having worked with many first-time directors. I don't know that I can explain how
it happens. But whether it's a directors first time or one hundred and first time behind the
camera, the talent, the extraordinary nature of the work is there. It's always exciting to be
in the presence of talent.
Tarantino was a wonderful talent to come across. He has an extraordinary gift. Reading "Reservoir
Dogs" I saw here was a talent that saw reality in a little bit of a tilted fashion.
Jane Campion is a Goddess. Abel Ferrara is a very religious, wrenching person. Both of them were
after what is most serious, most unkown about being a human being.
