While Lounge has been around for decades in various forms, it had its true heyday in the 50's and early 60's when Rat Packers, Frank Sinatra and Dean
Martin were the toast of the town in Las Vegas and artists like Esquivel and Martin Denny brought sounds of the exotic and smooth easy listening to the new invention called the hi-fi stereo. Cocktail parties became the thing to do as swingin' bachelors and classy dames got dressed up to socialize over martinis. It was all very glamorous.
So what better place for a resurgence of glamour than Hollywood where a young subculture of loungers are suiting up in vintage threads, invading clubs, buying reissue CDs, and sipping fancy cocktails. Forget rock 'n' roll debauchery, it's all about class.
