I like when a compilation disc has a title that doesn't beat around the bush. Latin Hip Hop Flava on Priority Records is a compilation disc that.... well, I don't need to explain it now, do I?
I was expecting more of a Latin flavor in the music but it's mostly straight ahead Hip Hop done by Latin artists: the raps are in English with some Spanish. The best tunes like La Raza (.au)/(.wav), by Kid Frost(#8/00:08) and Mentirosa (.au)/(.wav), by Mellow Man Ace(#9/00:25) rhyme Spanish to English. Spanish is a great language to rap in, unlike French, and I don't care what anyone says about MC Solar.
I really liked No Sunshine (.au)/(.wav) by Kid Frost. (#13/01:20)It samples Bill Wither's No Sunshine Till She's Gone. It's a low, slow groove about a man who's wife is cheating on him while he's in prison. Damn, that's gotta hurt.
If you are looking for a Hip Hop record that has a twist or you dig that Latin Flava, try this one out.
