Record cold snap in the south. Fourteen hours of driving snow. Twenty cars wrecked, one in flames. We couldn't have worse weather. It snowed from NYC to Greenville, N.C. Everything is well... snug in the van. The Farside was a cool club but I had to wrangle with the club owner about money. Hey, it was probably just a misunderstanding, but I learned lesson one about booking a band. Get a contract. Otherwise they were great. On to Asheville...
All I can say is some people need to be shown who's boss. I'm not sure what that means but I know Paul Page does. We lived through 14 hours of driving snow and played The Far Side. It would have been great if my harmonicas were in the right box. Not a momentous start, but we warmed up nicely. Everyone came home safe and sound tonight but it looks like trouble lies ahead. Spirits are high because were all high on spirits. It's way too late to be sitting up writing like an asshole when I definitely should be sleeping. I need a pen-pal."If you exorcise someone who is not possessed is that bad?" Personal goal: Eat as much southern BBQ as possible. First stop was Pete Jones. Chopped pork on a plain hamburger bun with a sauce that consisted of a jar full of peppers filled with vinegar...Oh yeah
north carolina is cold, south carolina is south of north carolina. maxx is my buddha. snake boys mom makes the best pot. salad in life. kelleigh & dl's vocals were the highlight of the first show. rhythm section was clumsy loud and powerful as balls, we'll neaten up a little but not too much.

There's a strange movie on cable about clowns. Clowns, all kinds of clowns. Small Clowns, Big Clowns - all kinds. Reminds me of my last day job. There was a clown "mission statement," there was "Clown Quality Management. Oh yeah, the tour... The tour is a deep experience, but for some reason I don't feel like talking about it at 3:00 in the a.m. What's it like for you - at your computer screen reading about this? What did you do yesterday? Was it a routine day, or did something momentous happen? Did you feel really good about yourself, or did you do something really stupid?

High points so far: Dave Liles' mom's potato salad and the Jurassic Park pinball machine at the Far Side. I hate to give plugs to any Spielberg merchandise but the shit was fun. Low points: the piece of dooty tape player we bought at Radio Shack when my Sony started marfing tapes. Look for us to be returning this doggy today.
...the next day
