Day 1 - 3/8/96 - New York City
(Why We Did This)

You all know me as the music reviewer/editor of Urban Desires, and you're probably thinking, "where in the hell do you get off telling us what we should think of some album!" But hey, I'm not only a critic...I'm also in the band Little Green. (No, I haven't reviewed our CD, because right now...we are CD-challenged. It will be a glowing review, however.)

Here's the deal. We've always wanted to go on tour, and decided that the South By Southwest music conference in Austin, Texas was the place to go. Then I thought, hey, let's put the whole tour online, seeing that I have this connection with UD. Admittedly it was a Mickey Rooney-type impulse, but we had a van and New York City is cold as hell in early March so it made sense in a vague, far-off sort of way.

Now as soon as the blue ribbon panel in Austin got our tape and gave it a listen, the red carpet would roll from Texas to Manhattan. Well...GUESS WHAT?! The carpet didn't roll. In fact, they thought we should stay home.

Because I'm sure they have made a grave mistake, I planned the tour anyway and decided we should drive to Texas and talk to somebody in charge. You know, try to get to the bottom of this whole misunderstanding. I also decided we would play in Austin even if it was in front of the convention center, or on top of the blue ribbon panel. Some people accept rejection gracefully. It just so happens, I'm not one of them.

So, we're heading south, playing music, exposing ourselves (not necessarily in the physical sense, but not necessarily NOT in the physical sense) and uploading our daily travails to the pages of On the Road with Dave. Of course, I claim absolutely no responsibility for each band member's freakish view of life.
